Taylor's Top 5 Home Decor Trends For Spring 2022
Is the change in season putting a spring in your step?
Spring is finally upon us, and with the long cold winter officially in the rearview mirror, we’re looking forward to a new season. We can’t count on the weather, but we can chuck off the winter layers and enjoy something new. Our homes can get a bit neglected in the winter, with a bit of a cabin fever feeling getting to us and our decor. Giving your place a spring clean can make a massive difference, and there’s no better time to introduce a gorgeous new look.
A little stuck for inspiration? We’ve already gone over some of the trends interior designers have predicted will take the world by storm this year on our blog, and we have plenty of other tips to make your home perfect. This week, we’re going through our top 5 spring 2022 home decor trends. So, if you need some new ideas for a new season, scroll on.
Bring Some Colour Into Your Life
A splash of colour makes all the difference
Here at Taylor’s on the High Street, we often talk about the virtues of great wall paint colours. Choosing the right colour for your interiors can completely transform the entire look, and is one of the easiest ways to upheave your decor. Choosing the right shade can be tricky, however, and there are a lot of factors to consider. We have a few of our favourite trends and our Banchory based interior designer Steph had some great advice.
“Stick to a colour palette of three, with a neutral in the mix to balance out the look, and have fun!”
There are heaps of home decor colour trends for 2022, and a new lick of paint is just what you need. Go bold or go home with yellows, bringing a little bit of sunshine to your interiors is perfect for this time of year. A mood-boosting shade, Lemon Tree by Little Greene Paint is a stunning mix of subtle yet captivating.
Another way to bring the outdoors to you is with fresh green paint. Green is a huge colour trend this year, and shades like Sage Green and Aquamarine are a great way to revamp your walls. You can even keep it current with the Pantone colour of the year.
Fabulous Foyers
Give overlooked rooms a little TLC this spring
An area found in almost every single home, that always seems to be neglected, is the humble hallway. It’s the place that opens up your interior, so it’s quite a shame they’re usually decorated with chucked off trainers or muddy wellies! One of the biggest predicted trends for spring this year is fashionable foyers. Your home has limitless potential for beautiful decor, so make sure you make the most of every nook and cranny.
Your hallway is the first thing people see when they enter your home, so start off on the right foot. Adding a rug to your hallway creates a cosy and inviting atmosphere right when you open the door. If keeping dirt away from your home is your top priority, then the Amtico Entrance Mat stops messes and looks great. We also love the Miami rug, which is designed for outdoor patios and can also be used in entrances, as they can easily be cleaned and are even waterproof
Accessorise With Amazing Artwork
Walls are getting a lot of attention this spring
In our last blog, we went in-depth about how creating your own gallery at home can effortlessly elevate your home. With gorgeous prints for every style, adding artwork gives your decor a chic and mature look. The trends for this Spring are heavy on getting down to earth, and that includes the artwork. Luxury landscapes are dominating the home decor world, and are a wonderful way to bring nature to you.
If you love the beach, but aren’t keen on sand getting everywhere, why not bring it home? Waves Whisper by Charlotte Oakley uses a moody grey to capture the spirit of the seaside. Ideal for homes near the coast, this landscape is a fabulous addition.
If you’ve been looking for a way to enjoy the great outdoors but want something a little more subtle, we recommend Sunlight Birch by Anthony Waller. With silvery greys and blues, this print is a gorgeous piece perfect for any home.
Countryside Chic
Wave goodbye to city living woes
Minimalism has been the prevailing trend of the last few years, with many of us taking inspiration from professional minimalists like Marie Kondo. While this home decor lifestyle has reigned supreme over the past few years, home trends for 2022 show people shifting to the opposite end of the spectrum.
Google searches for Maximalism have skyrocketed this year, by 300% more searches at the start of 2022. While there are heaps of ways to enjoy the maximalist aesthetic, the countryside chic trend is by far the most popular.
With all the stresses of the last couple of years, many of us are turning away from the hustle and bustle of a fast-paced life. Cottagecore has appealed to people for its slower-paced vibe that encourages a calm atmosphere. Getting down to your roots is easy, especially with ditsy floral prints. We love the Laura Ashley Pussy Willow Duvet Set which uses a gorgeous duck egg blue.
To get the maximalist look, accessorising is a must. Try adding soft furnishings for an elegant yet eclectic feel that’s also comfortable. You can also add some personality with finishing touches such as Vases or, our in-store interior designer can create custom curtains just for you!
Keep Your Eye On The Clock
It’s time for a whole new look
Springtime is a brilliant time of year. Fresh air, warmer weather, and flowers abound, but there’s one big drawback. The clocks are going forward, which means losing a full hour of sleep. Why not treat yourself to a new piece of home decor to soften the blow? Horology is predicted to be one of the most popular 2022 home trends, and there’s no better time to create a whole new look.
This year is all about mixing fashion and functionality, and a Thomas Kent Wall Clock is the best way to do it. The timeless aesthetic of a good old fashioned wall clock is suited to any style, and are an amazing addition to family spaces.
The Thomas Kent Clocksmith Wall Clock uses a classic design, making this timepiece a versatile way to zhush up your walls. Or, if you fancy something a little more delicate, the Thomas Kent Eden Mantel Clock is perfect.
