William Morris at Home Lodden Small Cushion
William Morris had a great admiration for rivers, from the humble stream that passed by Kelmscott Manor to the great River Wandle that he used to dye his textiles at Merton Abbey. From 1883 Morris began designing a series of gently flowing patterns named after tributaries of the river Thames. The ‘Lodden’ pattern is part of this series, named after the river Loddon, that flows through Berkshire and Hampshire. In rich deep blue and olive-green tones, the Lodden design is digitally printed onto a sophisticated linen-look base and has a complimentary plain, cotton-velvet reverse. This statement cushion is finished with a jewel-coloured blue fringing, for a luxurious touch.
